A country girl lost in M e l b o u r n e !

M e l b o u r n e ! Possibly the most fabulous city in the world (I'm not bias at all!) Daunting yes! Gorgeous yes! Bright yes! But so so addictive. The city never sleeps - which is very convenient when you are craving a big mac at 1 am! Or a Prada bag at 2! So basically this city has everything, a massive gleaming crown casino (gamblers a many) crazy methods of transport (namely trams) cocktails on a tuesday afternoon and many amazazazing shops. Boutique, designer, vintage - you name it, M e l b o u r n e s got it! What else could you ask for?

Sounds pretty amazing doesn't it? But when you put 20 odd country kids in the centre, shit can get crazy! Upon arriving in the city, (travelling by car) luckily i wasn't trusted enough to drive, so i spent many minutes with the head in a pillow, hoping we weren't side swiped by a tram or a crazy yellow taxi! However, our country driving skills paid off and we arrived in one piece. Almost. . . my pillow was a little worse for wear.

So what might you ask where 20 country kids doing in the big city. Big Day Out. Its well, a big day out, filled with the scorching sun, amazing bands, 60,000 sweating bodies rubbing against each other. Sounds like amazing stuff doesn't it? Except i didn't go. Haha, i mean i went to M e l b o u r n e but i didn't go to the big day out, because alike some country kids, i am slightly claustrophobic. However all my friends had a fabulous day, and i had a great day pa rousing the designer shops, thank you tiffany & co for making me realise i can never afford you!

Aside from the busyness and the hectic traffic, M e l b o u r n e truly is breathtaking. Its quiet refreshing to be in a place abuzz with people, a great contrast to my tumbleweed of a town. However you can't stay forever, money and commitments won't allow!

So today we left the bright lights for the quiet countryside. Might i just add, i do love the city but gee its great to be home. Although its still freaking hot, i prefer the hot soil then the hot bitumen to twinkle my toes on.

Signed,
Fake Tiffany wearing Country Gal.

  1. Oh, I am so glad I found your blog. As soon as you said net ball I knew you had to be from Australia. I made my first trip there in September and loved it! And yes, I walked passed that Prada store in Melbourne. I can't wait to go back someday! I even have an Australia bummer sticker on my blog today.
